The Electro-Thermal Actuator (ETA) is a two chambered device that converts electrical energy input into mechanical motion output by employing a self-regulating heater to create rapid vaporization of a di-electric fluid. One end of the heater chamber is sealed by a rolling diaphragm which is displaced under pressure and extends a piston rod located in a second chamber. An internal return spring retracts the piston after power is eliminated. These unique, patented actuators create a large output force from a compact, lightweight and economical package. Over 8,000,000 of these units have been used to engage automotive four-wheel drive systems, control refrigerator ice-dispensing mechanisms, maintain bleed-air pressure on corporate jets, and open/close dampers and louvers in HVAC systems worldwide.
Detailed Info . . .
Applications for these economical actuators include damper controls, dispensing mechanisms, valve operations, louver actuation, latch lock mechanisms or other applications where a smooth, high force outstroke is required. See design guide section for help/considerations in utilizing the 500/740 Series in your applications.
Thermotion Introduces a new electrically actuated water valve. Thermotion's inline water valves come with either 5/8" or 3/4" ID hose connections and are available for 12, 24, 120 or 240 volt operations.
(patent pending) Designed
for low-cost, minimum size and excellent speed, the TEAM Actuator
is a powerful actuator that delivers a long and impressive force of stroke
while using only a small percentage of power.
Thermotion's Thermo-Magnetic Actuator was developed with one specific goal: to build an actuator that combines the best of two worlds — thermo-electric force and electro-magnetic holding. Thermotion Corporation introduces the new Thermo-Magnetic Actuator™. This self-holding actuator combines the high output force of an Electro-Thermal Actuator with the low power consumption holding capability of electro-magnetic technology.

Thermotion's new Shape Memory Alloy Responsive Technology (SMART) represents the latest in motion technology development. SMART Actuators are based upon the metallurgical phenomenon first noted in the 1930's wherein certain metal alloys exhibit a "memory" when heated above a critical temperature. Recent technological developments have allowed for significant improvement in response time, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
