Thermotion's new Shape Memory Alloy Responsive Technology (SMART) represents the latest in motion technology development. SMART Actuators are based upon the metallurgical phenomenon first noted in the 1930's wherein certain metal alloys exhibit a "memory" when heated above a critical temperature. Recent technological developments have allowed for significant improvement in response time, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
